Massachusetts Federation of Republican Women - Illegal Immigration: What You Can Do

Introduction

Most people don't realize it, however, illegal immigration is growing into a huge crisis for our country. We've got over 20 million illegal aliens in this country with around another 3 million pouring over our borders each year in addition to the 1.3 million who come in legally. We're headed for an added 250 million Americans in 50 years which will leave us struggling with an unsustainable society. Our kids are going to inherit a mess. At the same time, we must be compassionate, yet, we must ensure our nation's viability so we can help the Third World out of its population crisis.

To-Do List

You may not be able to do all of the following. However, do what you CAN with the following points. Work with your strengths. Many only take five minutes per week! Your voice will be added as a part of the "critical mass" of protest needed.

  1. Join or support the Massachusetts Coalition for Immigration Reform (MCIR). Contact massimmigration@adelphia.net. Receive an informational newsletter, action alerts and obtain support in contacting your State Legislators.

  2. Contact your State Legislators. One of the most important things you can do is contact your state legislator(s) and demand that he or she enforce our immigration laws. Insist that he or she join the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, (Chairman Tom Tancredo R-CO). Note that, currently, Massachusetts legislators are looking to provide incentive-type programs to aliens, such as tuition-aid for children of illegal aliens. These types of legislation have been shown to exacerbate the problem and are actually illegal.

  3. Be an Information Resource! Read and read and read and spread the word. Call conservative radio talk show hosts and discuss the issue. Discuss the issue with your friends and family. Good sources of Information are detailed throughout this web page.

  4. Read the web site: http://www.numbersusa.com: Become a member of this excellent grassroots organization. You can join for free and can send pre-written faxes every week.

  5. Read the additional following web sites and where applicable, sign-up for free action alerts, news items, etc:

  9. Call and write your U.S. Reprensentatives and Senators. See http://www.congress.org to find out who they are and to write. See http://www.betterimmigration.org for report cards showing how how they voted on immigration issues. The toll free number is 1-877-762-8762.

  10. If you like to write, you can write letters to the editors of local newspapers. Also, write letters to various news commentators, including: oreilly@foxnews.com or loudobbs@cnn.com.

  11. Write President Bush at president@whitehouse.gov or fax him at 202-456-2461. Call the White House Comment Line at 202-456-1414 and express your views.

  12. Visit http://www.proenglish.org and http://www.usenglish.org. Our country's English language is under assault. If we lose one of the most cohesive aspects of our culture, our language, we will surely lose our country.

  13. Contact the Department of Health and Welfare if you see too many people living next door. This is a health code violation.

  14. Before consummating any agreement for services to be performed on your home/apartment/business, ASK the owners, managers, etc. to verify that any employees they will be sending to your establishment are in our country legally!

  15. Contact Building Code Enforcement and file a Complaint with noted/potential violations of building codes.

  16. Pass out fliers (in Spanish and English) to those who loiter at day-labor centers. Advise these people of our immigration laws. Take pictures. Have that same flier state "we are photographing and will be reporting the presence of persons suspected of "illegal status" to the I.C.E.
