Massachusetts Federation of Republican Women - Fall 2006 Newsletter
From the President's Desk
I hope you enjoyed your summer.
Where did it go? Fall is here and so are
the elections. We have a lot of work to do
to retain control of the Governor’s and Lt.
Governor’s offices. Also, our local
Representatives and Senatorial candidates
need our support. I know I can depend on
each of you to help each in your own way.
We can make a difference.
Our MFRW Board met in June and
September at Alice Morrison’s house in
Needham. We had fruitful meetings, setting
up plans for the fall and a nominating
committee. Phyllis Johansen of the
Winchester Club is Chairwoman of the
nominating committee. Her members
include Maureen McInerney, Murial
McGrann, Alice Morrison, and Donna
Ryan. They will present, for your
approval, the slate of officers for 2007 at
the Annual Meeting; there will also be an
opportunity to consider nominations from
the floor.

Yours truly, Muriel McGrann, and
Phyllis Johansen attended a meeting of a
potential new club at the Four Seasons in
Boston on Sunday, June 25,
2006, led by Meredith Myers, a
dynamic young professional
woman. We enjoyed meeting
with Meredith and her group of
young Republican women. We
answered their questions and
encouraged them to start a new
club for the Boston area. After
collecting dues, writing by-laws,
electing officers, and communicating
back and forth, they voted
to start the Hub Republican
Women’s Club in August. We are
thrilled and will present them with
membership cards, magazines,
and membership booklets at our
Annual Meeting hosted by the
MRWClub on October 21, 2006,
at the Westford Regency Hotel. It
will be a very happy day for all of
us. Please come and welcome our
newest club and members. They will
add lots of energy, enthusiasm, and talent
to our Massachusetts Federation of
Republican Women. One of the Hub’s
outstanding Republican women, Amber
Hillman, will introduce her Dad as our
special guest speaker.
The Middlesex Republican Women’s
Club (MRWC), our host Club for the
Annual Meeting, will present money raised,
in the form of checks, to Reed Hillman, candidate
for Lt, Governor; member Sandi
Martinez, candidate for State Senate;
Representative and member, Susan Pope;
and Representative Robert Hargraves.
I submitted Lt. Governor Kerry
Healey’s name to the National Federation
of Republican Women (NFRW), a suggestion
for publication as she’s our great candidate
for Governor. Aren’t you thrilled
that they selected her for the cover of The
Republican Woman magazine?
Please join us on Saturday, October 21,
11:00 a.m., at the five-star Westford
Regency Hotel in Ballroom #1. I need all
of you to help celebrate our new club,
elect officers, and vote for a $3 increase
to our dues. Help us fill the ballroom with
our loyal Republican members, special
guests, and fantastic candidates for office.
I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
NFRW Treasurer, Jane Lane, will install
our new officers for 2007-2008.
Fondly,
Carol Sneden, President MFRW
