Meet Muriel McGrann - Republican Woman of the Year
Muriel Lois (Witt) McGrann was born in Dryden, Ontario, Canada of American parents. She graduated from Winnepeg Gen'l Hospital (996 beds) with her RN from the Province of Manitoba in 1955. Muriel practiced Pediatric Nursing at Winnipeg Children's Hospital in Boston. She married in 1966 to John McGrann and after the birth of her two sons, Muriel returned to part time nursing at Children's Hospital in Lowell. She actively supported Carol Cleven for her terms in office. On retirement, she supported Republican candidates running for local, state and federal offices. Elected in the mid-90's to the Chelmsford Republican Town Committee (serving for 7 years as Secretary) and the Middlesex Republican Women's Club as Treasurer beginning in 1999. The MFRW presented Muriel with the Women of the Year award in January 2004, based on recommendations from Carol Cleven (State Rep.), Bruce Herzfelder (Candidate for State Treasurer), Peter Unit (Candidate for State Rep.), Peter Dulchinos (Chairman CRTC), Donna Ryan (MFRW Pres.), and Carol Sneden (Past Pres. MFRW). Presently, Muriel is donating and volunteering her time to JOHN THIBAULT's campaign at his headquarters in Chelmsford. "It's a new and exciting approach to campaigning for me. Come join me in this new political era."
