NFRW Spring Board Meeting

At its spring Board of Directors meeting, the NFRW heard from representatives of the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign and other political leaders about the upcoming elections and the role Republican women will play at the grassroots level.

Alice Morrison of Needham joined more than 240 Republican Women from across the country for the meeting, which was held in Washington D.C. March 19-20.

Speaking on behalf of the Bush reelection campaign, Liz Cheney, daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, discussed the President's strong commitment to women's issues. Matt Schlapp, White House deputy assistant to the President and director of political affairs, talked about the major theme of the campaign: that President Bush has given us a safer, stronger, more secure America. U.S. Sen. George Allen (R-VA) highlighted the states with the most competitive Senate races.

"Leaders of the NFRW returned home from this meeting energized about making the difference for President Bush and for congressional, statewide, and local Republican candidates in this year's critical elections," NFRW President Dianne Thompson said. "By combining modern high-tech communications with traditional grassroots sensibilities, we are registering thousands of voters, educating citizens about President Bush's positive vision for our nation and ensuring that Republican voters turn out to the polls this November."

Founded in 1938, the NFRW is one of the largest women's political organizations in the country with over 100,000 members and 1,800 unit clubs nationwide. The grassroots organization recruits and elects Republican candidates, advocates the Party's philosophy and initiatives, and empowers women in the political process.
