Massachusetts Federation of Republican Women - Winter 2005 Newsletter

From the President's Desk

Dear Members,

The voice of conservatism and reason has prevailed. Our President, George W. Bush, has secured a second term to finish the work he started in 2000. He will need our support and efforts to be successful.

Sometimes, living in Massachusetts puts us out of step with the rest of the country. It becomes more difficult to accomplish goals. Our State Party elections did not fare well. Our efforts were thwarted for whatever reason. We must work harder to increase our membership and to become more effective.

Membership — that is the topic of this issue. Other state clubs are growing and we must follow suit. Bring a friend to a meeting, organize small groups that can meet at night. Have members work on specific projects and report on their results a campaign, a literacy project, research on a bill before the Legislature, etc. It's not necessary for dues-paying members to attend every meeting.

We, the State Federation, must reach out to help others start new clubs in areas where Republicans have no representation.

It is my understanding that the emphasis during the next election cycle will be to elect Republicans to local offices and boards. This is a great opportunity for Republican women to excel. We are able and capable and need to help one another. Begin now. Convince friends and neighbors and fellow members of the Federation to run. And offer to help!

I am thankful for all your support and grateful on behalf of the candidates for all the work you have done during the campaign season. As the new Board begins its work, we will be trying to have all your efforts recognized by the powers that be.

Speaking of the new Board, they are enthusiastic and energized. One of their primary objectives is to set up a website, which will allow us to have a calendar and put the newsletter on the WEB. Using a website will enable us to bring you information on a more timely basis, and in a more efficient, economic way. It's also a good way to attract the attention of potential new members.

Finally, I wish you all a Happy New Year. May you find peace within yourselves and may our nation find peace by tolerance of one another.

Sincerely,

Donna Ryan, President
