Massachusetts Federation of Republican Women - Winter 2007 Newsletter

From the President's Desk

Dear Members and Friends:

I wish you a healthy, happy New Year. Governor Romney is moving on toward the 2008 election. We should do the same with enthusiasm and dedication.

We had a wonderful turnout at our Annual meeting in October. Guests speakers - Lt. Governor Candidate, Reed Hillman; Representative Bob Hargraves and Senatorial Candidate Sandy Martinez were great! We congratulate Representative Bob Hargraves. He won his re-election again. Reed Hillman and Sandy Martinez are strong candidates also. We encourage them to run again. Remember, President Lincoln lost his first campaign. We must persevere and never give up. Muriel McGrann, Treasurer of the Middlesex Republican Women's Club (MRWC) presented checks to Reed Hillman, Representative Bob Hargraves, Representative Susan Pope, and Sandy Martinez on behalf of the MRWC.

We welcomed the new Hub Republican Women's Club. Meredith Meyers received the charter from the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) on behalf of her Club.

We honored Chrysanthi Charalambides as Republican Woman of the Year. Alice Morrison, Awards Director, presented her award.

Special guest, Jane Lane, Treasurer of the NFRW and District Director installed our MFRW Officers for the 2007-2008 term.

  • President - Carol Sneden
  • 1st Vice President - Jane Gupta
  • 2nd Vice President - Kim Bakeberg
  • 3rd Vice President - Rachael Godawski
  • Secretary - Pat Knox
  • Corresponding Secretary - Roberta Cerul
  • Treasurer - Chrysanthi Charalambides
  • Assistant Treasurer - Sheila Richardson

We need every club to be involved and represented on the Board of Directors. Please volunteer to participate. Once again, I ask for all of your support.

On Saturday, February 10, 2007, the Executive Board met at the home of Roberta Cerul in Sudbury to plan future meetings and to discuss Jessica's Law and ways to strengthen it in Massachusetts. Jessica's Law is involved with preventing and punishing sexual offenders. As women, we must do whatever we can to protect our precious children and grandchildren.

Our great state and nation are at critical crossroads. I need each of you to step forward and work with us to make sure we move in the right direction.

Thank you.

Respectfully yours,
Carol L. Sneden
